Morva website build
How I helped Morva build a new website to promote their beautiful holiday cottage on the Isles of Scilly. It started with a plan to have one section of the site focus on the cottage and another section focus on the islands and all they offer travellers.

What I did...
Building the website...
I built custom components to streamline the website development, including an autoplaying background video on the cottage page to highlight its proximity to the beach. I also included a gallery to allow users to browse all the pictures easily, avoiding excessive swishing or sliding animations that can often be distracting. Prioritizing a fast and interactive feel was key.
The 'articles' section of the website was designed to enable Louise to create new content quickly and populate articles with images, galleries, and other components I developed. Everything is managed through an easy-to-use content management system.
Creating a logo for Morva
The cottage owner wanted a logo to provide a consistent feel across guest interactions. The logo was designed for use on the website, in emails, and on cards displaying Wi-Fi details placed around the property.
Since "Morva" means "by the sea," it made sense to adopt a theme inspired by the crystal-clear waters surrounding the Isles of Scilly.
Optimised for search bots and AI
I ensured every page on the site included metadata and structured information that search engines and AI systems use to understand the website. For Morva, this enhances the site’s visibility, making it easier to find. When potential guests share page links, a compelling preview and description are displayed. Numerous hidden features further boost search performance, all of which are easily customisable by the owner whenever needed.
A colour palette to match its location
The colour palette draws inspiration from the stunning Cornish coast, featuring hues reminiscent of the sea, sand, and summertime. I aimed for the website to feel warm and inviting, reflecting the cottage and its location. This colour theme is applied consistently across the site to guide users seamlessly.
The colours were also selected to enhance accessibility, ensuring strong contrast between backgrounds and text to improve readability for all users.
